A Note on Color
We here at Ashley Signs understand that color is extremely important. Not only for aesthetics and style, but also for intentionality in branding and marketing. Please take some time to read this brief explanation of what to expect concerning color in the sign proofing / printing process. If you have any questions or need clarification do not hesitate to email us or give us a call!
Digital Color Matching
Unless a hard (physical) color match process is requested, the colors viewed on a screen (desktop computer, laptops, smart phones, tablet etc) which are based on RGB (red, green, blue) will look differently from printed final CMYK colors. Screens are not calibrated the same way, thus colors look different when viewed digitally across formats.
Digital to Physical Color Matching
Whenever colors are critical for your design, please schedule enough time (5-10 business days) to allow us to provide you with hard (physical) color matched samples once we have your vector artwork files. Once ready we can ship them, hand deliver them, or schedule an in-shop meeting to meet with you. Fees may apply depending on the complexity, order quantity, delivery method and sample sizes.
โ
For optimum results we will ask that you provide us with vector format artwork files and call out the PMS Coated numbers for color matching. Keep in mind that due to technology limitations of CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) printers, a minor color difference of 5% to 15% color deviation will exist based on the printing material, lamination and other factors, as generally accepted printing industry standards.
Physical to Physical Color Matching
For any color matching where we are taking your sample and recreating, we cannot guarantee a total 100% recreation due to the same factors as stated above and including subtleties in vehicle metals, finishes, coatings, or object textures. If providing us vinyl from a certain manufacturer for color matching we are only limited by the availability of purchasing said vinyl and the current age of the vinyl provided (i.e. fading, cracking, color shifting).
